Question 1

How to know who is tracking my phone right now?

Accepted Answer

Audit active background permissions using Who is Tracking My Phone, check status bar privacy indicators, and inspect battery/usage stats. To find out who is tracking your phone right now, start by reviewing which applications currently possess sensitive permissions: Location (GPS), Microphone, Camera, and Network sockets. On Android 12 and higher, check if a green dot or microphone/camera icon appears in your top status bar when you are not using those features. With the "Who is Tracking My Phone" app, you can instantly see a sorted list of every installed app, examine which apps recently accessed sensors, and view exact background usage duration over the last 24 hours, 7 days, and 30 days.

Question 2

Who can track my phone location and how do they do it?

Accepted Answer

Apps with Location permissions, cellular network carriers via cell towers, Google/Apple accounts, and malicious stalkerware. Your phone location can be tracked through four primary vectors: (1) Installed apps that hold ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION or ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION permissions, which can transmit coordinates to data brokers or ad servers; (2) Cellular network providers through cell tower triangulation; (3) Operating system location sharing (such as Google Find My Device or Family Link); and (4) Dedicated stalkerware or parental monitoring applications installed with physical access. "Who is Tracking My Phone" highlights every app on your device that has permission to access your GPS location so you can restrict or remove them.

Question 3

Who can check my car for a tracking device?

Accepted Answer

Professional auto-security technicians, car audio/alarm specialists, licensed private investigators, or a thorough self-inspection. If you suspect a physical GPS tracker is hidden in your car rather than on your mobile phone, certified 12-volt car audio/alarm installers, professional automotive mechanics, and licensed security/counter-surveillance investigators specialize in checking vehicles. To perform a preliminary self-check: (1) Inspect the OBD-II diagnostic port underneath your dashboard for plug-in tracker dongles; (2) Check underneath the front and rear bumpers, wheel wells, and metal frame for magnetic weatherproof GPS boxes; and (3) Use an RF (Radio Frequency) detector or bug detector while driving to spot active cellular transmissions. Remember that if someone has access to your phone's location via an app, they do not even need a car tracker to follow your vehicle.

Question 4

How to find out whose mobile number it is when someone is calling or tracking you?

Accepted Answer

Use verified reverse phone lookup databases, mobile carrier spam registries, or search public telecom regulator databases. To find out who owns a mystery mobile number: (1) Use reputable public carrier registries and reverse lookup services; (2) Search the number in quotes on major search engines to check if it has been reported on scam, spam, or harassment registries; (3) Check messaging platforms (WhatsApp, Telegram) where the contact number may reveal a public profile name or photo. Note: Beware of rogue third-party caller-ID apps that demand full access to your contacts—many of them upload your entire phonebook to public clouds, infringing on your personal privacy.

Question 5

How do I find out who is monitoring my phone through spyware or stalkerware?

Accepted Answer

Scan installed packages for hidden administrator rights, accessibility services, and high-risk permission combinations. Stalkerware relies on specific permission sets to spy on your activities. It typically requires Location + Microphone + Background Network + Usage Access or Accessibility Services. "Who is Tracking My Phone" examines all installed applications on your device, allowing you to quickly spot apps disguised with innocent names (like "System Settings" or "Device Backup") that request an alarming combination of sensitive permissions. Check your Android "Device Admin Apps" in System Settings to ensure no unknown app holds device administrator privileges.

Question 6

Can someone track my phone if location (GPS) is turned off?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Apps can approximate your location via IP address, nearby Wi-Fi BSSID networks, and cellular tower IDs. Turning off GPS stops satellite-based fine positioning, but apps with INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE permissions can still approximate your location within a few hundred meters using your public IP address, cellular tower identifiers, and scanning nearby Wi-Fi network hardware addresses (BSSIDs). This is why managing which apps have background network access and auditing installed apps with "Who is Tracking My Phone" is essential for complete privacy.

Question 7

How does "Who is Tracking My Phone" differ from generic antivirus apps?

Accepted Answer

It is a dedicated, zero-tracker privacy audit tool: zero advertising SDKs, zero cloud telemetry, and 100% on-device transparency. Most commercial "antivirus" apps are bloated, constantly push aggressive notifications, collect your user telemetry via Firebase/AdMob, and sell aggregated data. "Who is Tracking My Phone" was built from the ground up on a zero-tracking philosophy: no user accounts, no Firebase Analytics, no Crashlytics, no AdMob, and no external data servers. It serves as an impartial magnifying glass into your Android permissions and app usage history without compromising your personal privacy.

Question 8

How can I stop apps from tracking me in the background?

Accepted Answer

Revoke background permissions, enable "Remove permissions if app is unused", and uninstall questionable packages. Follow these five steps: (1) Open "Who is Tracking My Phone" to identify which apps hold Location, Camera, and Microphone permissions; (2) In Android Settings > Apps > Permission Manager, change location access to "Only while using app"; (3) Toggle on "Pause app activity if unused" for rarely used apps; (4) Restrict Background Data in App Info > Mobile data & Wi-Fi; (5) Immediately uninstall any utility or game that requests permissions completely unrelated to its core function.
